The Doctoral Program

The Doctoral School of the Faculty offers a PhD program in Law and Political Science. Candidates can obtain their degrees in different ways. Full time PhD students are assigned to their home departments where – bearing their supervisor’s guidance – they carry out research in line with their research plan.

Full time students have regular lessons on methods of research and certain topics in different branches of law. They also occasionally entitled  to teach at seminars in order to gain experience in teaching law. Part time students have two methods of acquiring a PhD. On the one hand they may choose the above so called organized program or on the other hand they have also a possibility to opt for a personal research program, whereby they do an extensive long-term research exclusively on their chosen topic. The organized program lasts 4 semesters, which is followed by the preparation of the dissertation.

In order to provide doctoral students with the opportunity of presenting their actual research, the Doctoral School quite often organizes national and international conferences.
